Log House at Prairie's Edge
Built From A Dream
A place to relax, reconnect, and belong

Our Story

Crafted for Family,
Built from a Dream
The story of the Log House at Prairie’s Edge began long before Jim & Leslie Klahn envisioned building a unique log cabin on the edge of the Quillayute Prairie; a place where Jim’s ancestors first settled in 1890, a place where his family could call home, and a place to be shared by others.
Over many years, and countless weekends of hard work, Jim and Leslie, along with the support of family and friends, brought this dream to life. Nestled in what once was the Quillayute Naval Air Station, surrounded by acers of Spruce, Hemlock, and Alder, mountains, rivers, and the ocean, the vision came to life and the dream came true.
The Log House at Prairie’s Edge reflects both the natural beauty of its setting and the dedication behind its creation. Designed by Leslie and interior work by Jim, every detail of the log house has been carefully designed to combine modern comfort with natural beauty, providing a space to relax, explore, and reconnect with nature. Now, we welcome you and your family to enjoy the peace and serenity that our family has enjoyed for years.

“From the moment we arrived, everything felt peaceful and intentional. You can tell how much care went into every detail, from the design to the atmosphere. It’s rare to find a place that feels this personal and so deeply connected to nature.”
